[size=3,5]According to Global Retail Sales Monitoring website 'WORLD WIDE ALBUMS' Springsteen's Magic reached 2 million sales during the last 10 days or so of 2007 and has come in 20th Place in its list of biggest selling albums worldwide for the 2007 calendar year....an impressive result given the album only had 13 of the 52 weeks in the year to work with.
The website publishes a sales swing range (low-high) and these figures below are its low (conservative) figures.

In the Official Sales Award Certification realm MAGIC went "Double (2x) Platinum" in Sweden in mid-December and is threatening to go "gold" in the first half of 2008 in several other countries where it has charted well.

Si riferiscono ad ottobre, non ho alto più recenteCITAZIONEWorld Wide Albums website has MAGIC currently somewhere between 2.6 - 2.7 million sales retail worldwide. That's an accurate swing.
More exacting figures, using a more exacting methodology than WWA, are 2,673,000 worldwide

Slower than might have been expected sales of MAGIC over the past 4-5 months (truly horrible in the USA and Canada, although GREATEST HITS has had a very nice run of sales in both countries). Notable exceptions for more recent MAGIC sales are the small volume countries of Ireland, Norway and Sweden (album has gone QUADRUPLE Platinum in Ireland and is close to that in Norway..but these are small population nations and conseqently don't do much for the sales numbers at the macro level). Reasonable chance MAGIC will reach 5xPlatinum in Ireland by the time the IRMA releases its award info this coming February. MAGIC only just recently finally dropped out of the Irish Charts - 44 weeks in the Top-75 !!
MAGIC sold 900,000 copes in the USA Oct-Dec 2007. That was a very good first 3 months and it would have been more than reasonable to expect it would sell another 450,000 from Jan-Sep 2008 - but it didn't. I has only sold 135,000 copies in the USA over the past 9 months. In simple terms - the album didn't "kick on" in the USA (or the UK or Germany either). The same thing happened to LUCKY TOWN back in 1992 and NEBRASKA in 1982. This is often what happens when there is no hit single/s to drive the back end of the sales cycle.
